I was recently invited to give masterclasses and concerts during the 4th Ordu international guitar festival 2006. The festival is held in Ordu a beautiful city situated in the Black Sea region of Turkey. This was a young festival which has captured the imagination of the people of Ordu, artists played to packed theatres and encores were always demanded by the enthusiasm of the audiences!
The teaching side of the festival was still in it’s infancy during my visit, but there were some very talented local guitarist and others from Ankara and Istanbul. Already within the plans for the 2007 festival, tuition and masterclasses have been allotted much more time and importance.
Ordu was a fantastic place in which to perform and the people of the city and those involved with the festival were incredibly welcoming and friendly.
